Winter Care Package
Supporting Gabriola residents during the holidays.
The Winter Care Package is a seasonal community support program that helps individuals and families experiencing financial hardship during the holiday season. Through food, gifts and connections to community resources, PHC helps make the winter months a little brighter. The Winter Care Package is available to Gabriola residents registered with the PHC Grocery Program.
What does a Winter Care Package provide?
-
Holiday food: Additional groceries and ingredients to help prepare holiday meals.
-
Gifts for children: PHC partners with the Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department to support the annual community Toy Drive, helping distribute toys, books, clothing and gifts to families who may otherwise have difficulty affording them.
-
Gift cards and seasonal treats: Support for groceries and other essential needs, along with small festive additions to brighten the season.
-
Community connections: Information and referrals to other local organizations and available resources.
Available items and support may vary depending on community donations and program resources.
How does it work?
-
Registration: Individuals and families register for Winter Care Package support and, where applicable, assistance through the Toy Drive.
-
Planning: PHC works to understand participants’ needs and coordinate available support.
-
Preparation: Staff and volunteers organize donated food, gifts and other resources.
