Farmers' Market Coupons
Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP)
People for a Healthy Community (PHC) and the Gabriola Agricultural Co-op partnered to bring the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP) to Gabriola in 2026.
The FMNCP is a provincial healthy eating initiative that helps lower-income households access fresh, nutritious food while supporting local farmers and strengthening food security across British Columbia.
How the Program Worked in 2026
In 2026, the program introduced a new card system in place of paper coupons. Eligible participants received a Farmers’ Market card that automatically reloaded with $27 per week for the duration of the program.
Who Was Eligible?
The program was available to lower-income individuals and households who met the eligibility criteria and belonged to one of the following groups:

Pregnant individuals

Families with children under 18
-
Seniors and Elders
Where Could the Cards Be Used?
Cards could be used at participating vendors at Gabriola’s Saturday Farmers’ Market at Agi Hall only. Cards could not be used at farm stands.
Eligible purchases included:

Vegetables and plant starts
-
Dairy products and eggs
-
Nuts
-
Meat
-
Honey
The 2026 program ran from June 15 through December 2026, helping eligible households access fresh, nutritious food while supporting local farmers and market vendors.
