People for a Healthy Community and the Gabriola Agi Co-op are once again partnering to bring the Farmer's Market Nutrition Coupon program (FMNCP) to Gabriola. The FMNCP is a healthy eating initiative that supports farmers’ markets and strengthens food security across British Columbia.

 

This year, it will look a little different rather than coupons, participants will receive a card that will automatically reload with funds for the length of the program. 

 

To be eligible to receive a card, you must be lower income and;

• A person who is currently pregnant

• A family (Families are households with children under 18.)

• A senior citizen/elder

 

This year every participating household will receive a Farmer’s Market card. Your card will automatically reload with $27 weekly to use at participating BCAFM farmer’s market vendors.

This includes Gabriola’s Saturday Farmer’s Market at Agi Hall only. Cards cannot be used at farm stands.

 

The cards can be used to purchase vegetables, plant starts, dairy, eggs, nuts, meat and honey. The program will run from June 15 till December 2026.

Space in this program is limited to available funding. All eligible registrants will be entered and  chosen at random to participate. Participants will receive an email by June 10th with details.
