Every year during the holiday season the staff and volunteers at PHC work extra hard to make sure that all of our community members have a joy filled holiday season.
Our annual Spirit Feast event where EVERYONE is welcome to celebrate together on December 25th with a wonderful meal and good cheer is happening this year at the Community Hall.
The Christmas Bureau and Hampers make a huge difference! With the help and support of the community and our partners, we can make sure that bellies will be full, warm clothing is distributed and children will get a special gift.
We could not reach these goals with out the support of the whole community and especially our partners, such as Village Foods, the Fire Department and Gabriola Players, who are putting on a reading of Scrooge with all proceeds going to the hampers Dec. 17th at the Golf Course. 🙂
From all of us at PHC, thank you for making a difference in your community and may you be blessed with love, laughter and light in your hearts and homes this holiday season.
Dr. Tracy Thorne and Brenda Fowler presented at the Canadian Public Health Association National Conference recently. Click here to view their PowerPoint presentation titled Impact of Collaborative Effort: Improves Community Health and Wellness.
With over 200 people in attendance, our 2017 Spring Extravaganza was a success with thousands raised for People for a Healthy Community. Many thanks to all who attended, donated to the silent auction and participated in the evening!
A big THANK YOU to to the Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department and the community for donating to the Food & Toy Drive. Happy smiles and cups of hot chocolate were enjoyed by all last night. We are still tallying the donation weight! Stay tuned for updates. Thank you to Judith M. for the photo.
The Food Bank is embarking on a new adventure and we need your help!
We are grateful to Village Food Market (VFM) for partnering with us to save their produce they can no longer sell. They are donating their unsold produce to the Food Bank. This is a beneficial partnership for the community and the planet!
Volunteers needed daily for the following tasks:
Pick up produce at VFM and drop it off at PHC
Sort produce for human consumption, animal consumption and compost
We are very excited to help divert good food to those who need it.
If you can help with this project, please contact the Food Bank Coordinator Sacha: firstname.lastname@example.org or 250-247-7322.
