FILL THE TRUCK FOOD BANK DRIVE

On Saturday July 14 between 10:00am and 3:00pm volunteers, staff and board members from PHC will be in the Village Foods parking lot to receive donations to fill the shelves at the food bank.

Summer may bring more vegetables and garden fresh foods, but the food bank is busy as ever this time of year and the non-perishables are an important part of the staples which help our participants.

There are 3 ways you can contribute to the Fill the Truck drive.  See poster for the details:

We hope to see you there!

People for a Healthy Community

People for a Healthy Community (PHC) has evolved and grown with the needs and requirements of the community. We are for everyone on Gabriola. We believe that all of us are needed to help fulfill our aim of an inclusive, strong, prosperous community that is responsive, caring and sustainable. By building local capacity and connections we strengthen the social networks that make Gabriola a safe and healthy place to live.

Our Mandate
People for a Healthy Community on Gabriola Island (PHC) is a non-profit social service agency and community resource centre. We have been operating on Gabriola since 1996.
We believe that the contribution and input from all Gabriola residents is necessary to fulfill our aim of an inclusive and strong community that is responsive, caring and sustainable.  By building local capacity and connections we work to strengthen the social networks that make Gabriola a safe and healthy place to live.

School Children in the gardens!

We often work in collaboration with other non-profits and service organizations on the island, and we are generously supported by local businesses. All of our programs are run with the input, support and hard work of more than one hundred committed volunteers.

We maintain our robust menu of programs through the financial support of individual and corporate donors on Gabriola, as well as foundations and public support programs.

Community Spirit during the Holidays

Every year during the holiday season the staff and volunteers at PHC work extra hard to make sure that all of our community members have a joy filled holiday season.

Our annual Spirit Feast event where EVERYONE is welcome to celebrate together on December 25th with a wonderful meal and good cheer is happening this year at the Community Hall.

The Christmas Bureau and Hampers make a huge difference! With the help and support of the community and our partners, we can make sure that bellies will be full, warm clothing is distributed and children will get a special gift.

We could not reach these goals with out the support of the whole community and especially our partners, such as Village Foods, the Fire Department and Gabriola Players, who are putting on a reading of Scrooge with all proceeds going to the hampers Dec. 17th at the Golf Course. 🙂

From all of us at PHC, thank you for making a difference in your community and may you be blessed with love, laughter and light in your hearts and homes this holiday season.
