About

People for a Healthy Community is a federally registered charity and Gabriola’s only social service not-for-profit community organization. We support isolated and marginalized residents by operating food-related programs including the weekly food bank, as well as community-oriented programs under the Circle of Care umbrella. Over 200 individuals and families are helped by PHC every month.

We rely on individual and corporate donations, as well as grants from governments and foundations, to run our programs and serve the community. We have evolved in response to the needs of the community for the past 20 years and look forward to fostering a healthy community for all Gabriolans for many more years to come!

Our Mandate is based on 4 pillars that guide all of our programs.   

WE BELIEVE everyone can contribute to an inclusive, caring, responsive and sustainable community.

WE BUILD and strengthen social networks and connections in our community.

WE SUPPORT the health and well-being of all community members and offer a range of essential and participant-centred services.

WE COLLABORATE within our organization and seek community partnerships to build a healthy community. Our dedicated staff and volunteers work on the frontlines to deliver our programs.
